Punjabi singer, lyricist and composer Savi Kahlon has been repping his Amritsar roots in Auckland, New Zealand, providing heart-warming songs for those longing for home. Starting in the mid 2010s with songs like βGal Sun Jaβ and βBewafaβ, Kahlon was drawn to singing after a few years of writing poetry and lyrics in his school years. His journey in music ran parallel to his interest in photographyβand both visually and musically, Kahlon has been drawn to ideas of family and love. After releasing the wholesome βJahaaz Udnaβ with fellow Punjabi artist Kunwar Bawa, Kahlon moved to New Zealand in 2017 for further studies (and where he eventually established his own photo studio and wedding photography company). Distance made the heart grow fonder, which led to identity-focused songs like βDil Taa Punjab Aaβ and βMaaβ, dedicated to his homeland and familyβparticularly his mother. In 2023, Kahlon was inspired by school and college farewells to write βApa Fer Milaangeβ, one of his most streamed songs.
